University of Wisconsin–Madison

Who We Are

The Office of Trademark Licensing at UW–Madison exists to protect and manage the use of the university’s indicia, which includes trademarks, service marks, trade names, designs, logos, seals, symbols, mascots, slogans, and any other indicia that is associated with or refers to the university.

Through its licensing operations, the office ensures the quality and appropriateness of products, promotions, and advertising where university indicia are used. It works closely with the campus community to help student groups and university departments source merchandise with UW–Madison marks from licensed vendors.

The office also handles reports of misuse of UW–Madison marks.

Vendors approved by the Office of Trademark Licensing must adhere to strict mandates regarding fair labor practices and workers’ rights.
